CAUSES - The sebaceous glands are found in every follicle of hair, creating fat that lubricates the skin. Some of them are then clogged, because of that bacteria multiply in that moment  inflammation begins. This occurs in adolescence (between 12 and 24 years), when androgens (male hormones) are secreted in higher amounts in boys and in girls. Some people have acne during their entire life. Other causes include: unhealthy food, oral contraceptives, cosmetic products, allergies, stress and genetics.

By the year 1950, the Canadian Eskimos  never had acne.  When they began to consume "modern foods",acne became a regular phenomenon.  Acne is rarely caused by severe hormonal disorders due to tumors in the adrenal glands or ovaries. Other symptoms of this kind include excessive hair growth and irregular menstrual cycles.
